I'm having problems trying to operate the Viomi Robot Vacuum from the app. Specifically creating a map. Apparently, you need to have it run a full cleaning of the house in order to generate a map.
Somehow I managed to create a map but it's not complete:
The two rectangles indicate rooms that the mapping function failed to map.
So I went to create a new map
And I ran a Vacuum along borders cleaning. After the cleaning was done I saw no new map. It was only after some time that I was able to see the map (after I got a notification that cleaning has been completed). Perhaps the system takes time to compute the map? Here's the map I get. It's better:
Note I used Rename to rename the map to "Home". I should point out that "Current map now, click to restore" is very confusing. Are you saying that the map being shown is the current map? Or, is "click to restore" indicating that if I click that the previous map will be restored? What am I restoring? What is tapping on "Current map now, click to restore" supposed to do at this point?
So I tap it and... it goes back to the map list It says that "Home" is the current map yet when I exit the app and go back into the robot cleaner I see the same map as in the first image above. IOW the wrong map! OK, tap the 3 dot menu and back into the map list, and... Poof! No maps are listed at all! WTF?
And what are Scenes? How do I create Rooms? This app is very lacking in intuitiveness and dare I say documentation!
Ok, so I cleared the maps and tried to create a new one. I let a full cleaning cycle go and I got the following:
It seemed to map out the entire house pretty much and even colored things and labeled things as rooms. But how the f**k do I use this map. We know that renaming it just renames it. If I restart the app again the map image shown at the top of this post is displayed. I can go into the map list and select this map (Map1). So then, the only other thing I can try is the "Current map now, click to restore" and when I tap that the map goes away. The first map is still there (again, as shown above). How the f**k am I supposed to use this map? How the f**k do I get rid of the first map?
I went back into the map list and wow! Map1 is there again. I select that and I see a blank map. If I touch the screen I see "The map data is being updated, please be patient". Not sure how long this will take...
Well, it's been about an hour and no change. Still says the map data is being updated and to be patient. Maybe tomorrow...
