Recruiters


For some reason recruiters, specifically down in the LA area, keep emailing me with opportunities. Don't they know I moved back to the Bay Area and got a good job? I often write them back pointing out the errors in their ways:

Sr SCM Automation Engineer

Job description

Work with SCM and Development to define, develop and implement automated build and release processes. Review existing process and implement best practices in configuration and release management.

Responsibilities

Review existing process and documentation. Recommend, facilitate, document, plan and implement new processes. Work closely with software engineers, release and CM engineers and project management. Perform software builds and deployments. Perform Clearcase user and vob administration.
There is no user administration in Clearcase!
Develop Clearcase triggers. Develop tools for automated reports. Monitor build and release processes. Monitor CM and build systems and servers. Proactively correct any build issues and discrepancies. Insure compliance to best practices. Provide training in best practices to release leads and engineers.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years in Software Development
  • 5+ years in Software Configuration Management and Release Engineering
  • 3+ years Clearcase administration
  • 1+ years InstallShield
I have 0 InstallShield experience. My resume bears this out...
  • 3+ years Perl
  • 3+ years Shell scripts
  • Which shells? There are many of them...
  • 2+ years Oracle/MSSql
  • I have no Oracle/MSSQL experience. Again my resume should tell you this.
  • 1+ years Ant/NAnt
  • Zip here too.
  • 2+ years UCM
  • I have very little UCM experience.
  • 5+ years Windows Environment (Windows 2000, XP, 2003)
  • 2+ years Unix/Linux
  • 2+ years C++
  • 1+ years Java
  • Expert at build and deployment automation
  • Extensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle, SCM practices, software build technologies, and Release Management methodologies.
  • Solid knowledge and extensive experience with Rational ClearCase/MultiSite
  • Thorough understanding of the use and implementation of workspace management strategies across multiple sites to support large teams in multiple and frequent releases.
  • Capable of writing relational database queries.
  • Windows and Unix systems administration expertise
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • Effective, clear and complete documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree or better.
